We’ve been staying at the Grand Terminus for our Small Group Tours since 2014, and there’s a reason we keep coming back. The location is absolutely perfect – right across from the train station yet in a quieter part of the city. The deluxe rooms are spacious, airy, and comfortable. But what really sets this place apart is the breakfast – it’s phenomenal! Fresh salmon, artichoke salads, the best croissants I’ve ever had outside of France, hot dishes, and an incredible variety. The staff goes above and beyond – they even helped arrange luggage transfer to Oslo when I couldn’t manage it myself. This is a true classic hotel with all the modern amenities you need.

The Grand Terminus exceeded our expectations for our 30th anniversary celebration. When the hotel learned about our special occasion, they upgraded us to a gorgeous suite with views of the historic railway station. The room was newly renovated, modern, and incredibly spacious – we could open two large suitcases and still have plenty of room to move around. The historic Bar Amundsen is a must-visit with its impressive whisky collection and old-world atmosphere. Location-wise, you can’t beat it – five minutes walk to the city center, tram stop right outside for the airport, and all major attractions within walking distance. The complimentary 24/7 laundry facility was a blessing after two weeks of travel!

This hotel perfectly balances historic charm with modern comfort. The public spaces are absolutely stunning – beautiful woodwork, high ceilings, and historic photos that tell Bergen’s story. Our room was in the renovated wing, very clean and comfortable with excellent beds. The breakfast alone is worth the stay – such variety and quality! I especially loved the peaceful garden terrace, a hidden oasis in the city center. The only minor issue was that some areas feel a bit dated, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. The staff were incredibly helpful with restaurant recommendations and booking tours. Perfect location for exploring Bergen – we walked everywhere!
